This feasibility study was initiated by the director of the ISC (Institute for Sustainable Construction) Professor Sean Smith who recognised the CLDB’s volumetric design as an ideal system to tackle the shortfall in delivering educational buildings. The whole project was based on my 2nd year undergraduate Kindergarten design which was successfully awarded the prize for the best Timber Building sponsored by the Scottish Timber Trade Association. The original concept was improved according to consultations with ex perienced nursery staff and further adaptations were introduced to allow the volumetric approach to the  construction.
